Before you start
Use the access and features actually assigned to your account. Keep a rollback or recovery route before changing existing service settings.
Steps
- List the application ports that must be reachable and restrict administrative access to approved sources.
- Record the current rules and a rollback procedure.
- Apply the smallest change using the assigned instance controls. Keep database and internal management ports private.
- Test from an allowed source and a disallowed source before closing the original session.
Verify the result
Required traffic works and unapproved traffic is denied. A rule appearing in a panel is not proof of enforcement.
